Prolific songwriter Aaron SCHROEDER dies

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - Last Wednesday songwriter Aaron SCHROEDER (1926-2009) died.
Schroeder wrote more than 2000 songs and thus put an indelible stamp on popular music during the 50's and 60's.
The 17 songs he co-wrote for Elvis Presley are the main proof of this. Among these It's now or never (1960) was the best selling one. Together with Wally Gold Schroeder translated the famous Napolitanian song 'O sole mio (1898) by Eduardo di Capua and Giovanni Capurro. Gold: "Aaron wrote other hits, I wrote other hits. But a song we finished in 20 minutes to a half-hour was the biggest song of our career."
Schroeder also co-wrote songs such as the Perry Como hit Mandolins in the Moonlight, Frank Sinatra's French Foreign Legion, Carl Perkins' Glad All Over Bobby Vee's Rubber Ball Barry White's Love's Theme and the Staple Singers' (It Takes More than a) Hammer and Nails
Apart from songwriting Schroeder founded the record label Musicor, on which Gene Pitney grew to world fame. Furthermore Schroeder supported young, talented songwriters like Barry White, Jimi Hendrix and Randy Newman in any way he could.
Aaron Schroeder reached the age of 83.
